On shoes recycling

I have been a addicted to shoes for a while, but lately i had been including them in my DIY projects too.... with not the best results i have to say. First ai bougth this retro pair from a vintage store and i painted them
Soy una adicta completa a los zapatos, y ahora fue el turno de incluirlos en uno de mis proyectos, estos zapatos son de una tienda vintage y tienen un estilo muy retro

I used acrylic paint and markers, but this cute pair is mainly decorative because..... the paint cracks

:( a detail i didn´t consider before painting them.

Los pinté usando Pintura acrílica y plumones indelebles, pero...... la pintura se cuartea :( así que terminaron siendo meramente decorativos

Compré estos zapatos en Argentina hace un siglo

Into a pair of brigth neon shoes, i used spray paint but i found out it cracks too, the girl on the store explain that  i should try with a shoemaker,

What i learned: Acrylic, and spray paint doesnt work with shoes, and as long as i have a whole stack of old shoes waiting to be transformed i will try the shoemaker option, and nail polish

Aquí usé pintura en spray, pero con el mismo efecto: se cuartea. La chica de la tienda de pinturas me dijo que no son flexibles por lo que la mejor opción es llevarlos con un zapatero a que los pinte, como aún tengo muchos zapatos usados esperando por ser reciclados probaré la opción del zapatero y ahora usaré pintura de uñas, ya veremos el resultado

The DIY neon necklace my way

Personally, im not a big fan of the neon trend, i think is too flashy. Anyway, i had seen a lot of posts about transforming a boring necklace into a super colorfull neon piece, i liked the  pictures, so i took my chance
Personalmente no soy una gran fan de la tendencia de los colores neón me parece un poco corriente. En internet encontré muchos posts de transformaciones usando un collar simple y pintura neon, me gustó tanto la idea que decidí arriesgarme

By a matter of chance, i had this neon lime green spray paint at home, i purchased it for another (failled) project

Por casualidad, yo tenía un bote de pintura spray en verde limón, lo había comprado para otro (fallido) poryecto

I had this necklace at home, the chains are actually bones (don´t ask me what kind) it wasn´t white, so it looked yellowish and dirty against white, but i didn´t liked the way they looked with other colors either

Tenía este collar en casa, los eslabones son hueso (no me preguntes de qué) usandolo con blanco se veía amarillento, pero tampoco me gustaba como lucía con otros colores. Como el collar que usè era de eslabones lo colguè para pintarlo, 24 horas después lo colgué al revés y le di otra mano de pintura.

IMPORTANTE: verifica la toxicidad de la pintura que estás usando, un detalle que yo olvidé al comprarla y después tuve severos dolores de cabeza, la pintura puede ser muy muy tóxica (la mìa es de home depot) pero existen otras marcas con gran variedad de colores que no son tóxicas (COMEX por ejemplo)

The result was quite amazing, i found out that bone worked perfectly with the paint (whoa that sounded creepy) i folded it in two for adding more volume,  so i end up not just with a neon necklace but an oversized neon necklace, i jut love it

Resultó que el hueso es una base perfecta para la pintura ( eso sonó muy tétrico) lo doblé en dos para añadir más volumen, Lo amé, se vé increible con todo, y puedes usar casi cualquier tipo de collar, probaré pronto uno en rosa o naranja neón (o ambos) Ya veremos

Fin de semana!!

Saturday afternoon rigth after leaving work i went straigth to my local fabric store and get a good stock for the weekend, now that i start sewing i can´t stop!! sometimes the result are not what i expected, but sometimes there actually really good, after all.... im having so much  fun, who cares about the results!!
El sabado en la tarde, saliendo de trabajar fui directo a la tienda de telas (La parisina de mi ciudad) y me surtí para el fin de semana, y es que ahora que empecé a coser... no puedo parar!!  a veces los resultados no son lo que esperaba, pero la paso tan bien que.. que importa!!

My new fabric stock includes three seasonal shades, coral, mint green, and blue, the orange one its a ligth and sheer beatifull three toned fabric. Not shown in the picture its a thick camo fabric i bougth for a DIY gift for my BF (a traveling bag)

Escogí tres de los colores de temporada verde menta, coral y azul, lo naranja es una preciosa tela transparente que va de rosa a amarillo. También compre una tela gruesa de camuflaje para un regalo que le haré a mi novio (una bolsa de viaje)

I spent a lot of time working in this mint green A-line skirt im making in my sewing class, i love this color but not in evrything, i bougth this super tigth mint green trousers and i returned them to the store (i didnt feel myself on them)

Pasé mucho tiempo trabajando en esta falda linea A que estoy haciendo en mi clase de costura, amo este color, pero no en todo, hace poco compre unos pantalones super ajustados y termine regresandolos a la tienda (no me sentia yo misma :s)

This beautifull sheer fabric was suposed to be a maxiskirt, but as long as im not very good on measuring, it turned out the ammount i bougth wasnt long enough (not even for a shirt!!) instead i just sew up the edges and wear it as a scarf

Esta preciosidad iba a ser una maxifalda, pero (porque no) la cantidad de tela fue tan pequeña que no alcanza ni para una camiseta (falta de experiencia) asi que solo cosí las orillas y la usé como mascada

My naills got colorfull today too

Hasta mis uñas se pusieron coloridas hoy

Lo malo: Un empleado de la tienda me ofrecio mas tela si le daba "para sus chicles" es la segunda vez que me pasa esto y es muy incomodo, ¿Como lo solucioné? le dije con mucha seriedad que solo quería lo que le pedí, no quería que me sobrara tela, creo que captó el mensaje porque se puso muy rojo y no volvió a mencionar el asunto

The oversized bangle

I love bangles, but there is a huge problem... my wrist is so tiny no bangle fit me (i can wear them in my elbow literally!!!!) So i figure out the best solution.... DIY!!!!
Amo los brazaletes, pero siempre me encuentro con un enorme problema... no me quedan!!! mi muñeca es tan pequeña, que algunos me llegan hasta el codo, ya tengo una solucion..... hazlo tu mismo!!!!!

I used this PVC tube from the home deepot (the best crafting material source ever) that actually fit my wrist, it was funny when i asked the guy from the store about tubes, he asked me why i wanted them for, and i was like.... mmmmm jewllery. I made the aplique myself but you can use any comercial aplique, the fabric was a piece of scratch left from a previous project (and very cheap $13.oo MXN a meter)
Use este tubo de PVC de Home deepot (la mejor fuente de material para manualidades) que se ajustara perfectamente a mi muñeca, fue muy divertido cuando le pregunte al chico donde estaban los tubos y me pregunto para que los necesitaba y yo..... mmm para joyeria. Yo hice el aplique, pero puedes usar un aplique comercial (mercerias) o algun otro objeto con base plana, la tela es sobrante de un proyecto anterior y muy barata (13.00 el metro!!)

Draw a rectangle using the tube measure plus 3 cm length and wide (for seam allowance)

Dibuja un rectangulo con las medidas del tubo añade tres cm a lo largo y a lo ancho para costuras

Fold 1cm up on each side of the rectangle, press them with an iron and pinned them im place

Dobla un cm, en cada lado, pasa la plancha, y fija el doblez con alfileres

Sew the seam allowances. this way the fabric wont fray, pin the rectangle to a piece of matching color felt and cut a new recatngle among the fabric lines

Cose las orillas (asi no se deshilacha) unelo a un pedazo de color parecido de fieltro con alfileres y corta sobre las lineas

Glue the aplique to the fabric rectangle, be carefull it can stain the fabric

Pega el aplique a la tela (cuidado que mancha!!)

For adding extra support sew the applique to the fabric (this step is optional)

Para mayor soporte cose algunas puntadas alrededor (opional)

Put the felt rectangle inside the tube, add a little glue if you want to (i didn´t) pair the fabric with the felt

Mete el fieltro dentro del tubo, puedes añadir un poco de pagamento si quieres (yo no lo hice) emparejalo con la tela

Using a simple stitch, close the fabric rectangle into a tube, i used embroidery thread with a contrasting shade of orange

Con una puntada sencilla, une los dos extremos de la tela, yo use un tono contrastante de naranja

Using the same stitch and thread , stitch together the fabric and the felt on both bottom and top

Ahora une los extremos superior e inferior con la misma puntada e hilo

My dad loves printed shirts, i found this old one he was ready to throw away,

Mi papá ama las camisas con estampados, y encontré esta vieja que guardaba en una de mis cajas de telas para ver en que la convertía después

Well, it looks a little bit old, but it was perfect for trying this project without ruinning a worthy one

mmm, se ve un poco viejita, pero es perfecta para probar este proyecto, así no arruino un estampado que en verdad valga la pena

First step is drawing a line from armpit to armpit (this way you use the maximun of fabric) draw the line with a piece of chalk

Lo primero es dibujar con una greda una linea que vaya de axila a axila, ( así aprovechas más tela)

Put some pins all along the line you draw

Pon algunos alfileres en la linea para quede derecho

Cut the line you draw

Corta sobre la linea

Fold the edge of the fabric 1/2 an inch, press it with an iron, fold and press again, 1 inch now, pinn it on place

Haz un doblez de media pulgada y planchalo en su sitio, vuelve a doblar ahora una pulgada y planchalo de nuevo, sostén el doblez con alfileres

sew it up, but stop a few inches before you reach the beggining, pin the edges of a piece of elastic, with the measure of your waist (or hip if you want) put the elastic inside the casing

Inserta un pedazo de elástico de la medida de tu cintura (o cadera) pon un seguro en cada extremo para que sea mas facil

Sew the two edges of the elastic together, and close the casing, being carefull not to touch the elastic

Cuando todo el elástico esté dentro, une los dos extremos

Done!!!

Listo!!!! rápido y super fácil, incluso puede hacerse a mano

I bougth Tina Sparkles book The little green dress full of wonderfull and super easy clothing projects for make at home, i have this book for a few months, but now that im in sewing classes and have some skills using my sewing machine, i decided to start with the easiest project the ultraminiskirt!!!! i found this colorfull fabric, i know animal print its not on the spotligth anymore, but i liked the rich shade of pink,

The final result wasnt that bad (i mean it was the first garment id ever made myself) and i found out that if you pair it with the rigth stuff the result is amazing

I was absent for a really long period of time because a lot of reasons, an overscheduled agenda with my wedding, sewing classes, school, my job, time with my fiance, and a new project (a line of bridal accesories pictures coming soon!) But i still had the time to work in my beading projects. Here, i present this beautifull piece

Estuve ausente por mucho tiempo, no es para menos, tengo un horario supersaturado que incluye escuela, trabajo, clases de costura, planear mi boda, pasar tiempo con Arturo y una nueva linea de tocados para novia (subire fotos pronto!!) y aun así me doy el tiempo para trabajar en mis proyectos, que tal esta hermosura

Moría por hacer una mariposa (las amo) y la llegada de la primavera pareció la excusa perfecta, como siempre terminó siendo algo totalmente distinto a lo que tenía proyectado, y será la estrella de un bazar de beneficiencia el proximo mes

I felt incredibly inspired by a sort of items including this gorgeous vintage shoes i bougth in a trendy boutique in Argentina, they have decoupaged butterflies all over

Me sentí increiblemente inspirada por estos zapatos vintage con mariposas en decoupage que compre en una tienda vinatge en Argentina

I took the purple shades from this colorfull foulard i made from a scratch of fabric i bougth downtown for only 5 pesos (.30 dollar cents) i just fixed my sewing machine, and spending time on it is getting addictive.

Para la paleta de colores tomé los tonos morados de este foulard que hice yo misma con un retazo de tela de 5 pesos, mi máquina de coser está de vuelta, y se está volviendo adictiva!!!

And what about this gorgeous necklace i bougth in a trip to florence, i have a lot of butterflies necklaces but i felt the necesity of cretaing one myself
